MONOPRINTING

A Monoprint  is a way of creating unique 'one-off' prints.

I have been exploring the use of a gelatine plate to make layered monoprints that are interesting in themselves but also make useful backgrounds for other print images or to repurpose as collages.

It is a fascinating process to take botanical prints with leaves, grasses and flowers and can be enjoyed at many levels.

I use acrylic paint applied to the surface of the gelatine plate using a roller. Textured materials pressed into the paint give interesting marks and stencils and masks can be applied to the surface.

Natural materials such as feathers, leaves, grasses etc contribute their unique shapes and patterns to the resulting monoprint.
