OSH is a new voluntary organisation and primarily exists to hold an annual Open Studio event. Participating artists will show their work to the public either in their own home/studio or in a shared space and OSH aims to foster and promote the work of local visual artists and crafts people.

It is hoped that, in subsequent years this will become an annual event and be expanded to include other areas of the island. Covid has been a difficult time for everyone, particularly for the creative professions and OSH aims to provide a focus for artistic work at a time when it is needed.

For artists, Open Studios is a unique opportunity to manage their own event, exhibit work and demonstrate their working processes.

The aim is for the participating artists to sell and promote their work collegiately, building up links between themselves as well as within the community.

Our first event took place in July 2021 over 2 weekends and focussed on the wealth of creative talent that exists between Tong and Tolsta, just north of Stornoway and running along the lovely coastline of Loch a Tuath/ Broad Bay. It was a successful 6 days for the artists taking part and we are already planning to repeat it on a larger scale in 2022
